Day one of our trade mission to Silicon Valley kicked off with a visit to Berkeley’s Center for Entrepreneurship where we learned about the latest trends in technology, venture capitalism and how the university drives the commercialization of research. After a quick lunch at Berkeley’s faculty club, we were off to San Jose to the US Access Center where we learned about their non-profit programs to facilitate overseas business entry to the US. After that, we were off to Sun Microsystems, where we discussed tech industry trends. The day concluded with some of the group meeting with the Irish Pastoral Centre and others attending a tech networking event. All in all, a very productive and busy first day in sunny Silicon Valley.
